CCGC at IIMB hosts a special talk on ‘Corporate Governance in Listed Companies in India: A Regulator’s Perspective’

09 June, 2017, Bengaluru: The Centre for Corporate Governance and Citizenship (CCGC) at IIM Bangalore hosted a talk on ‘Corporate Governance in Listed Companies in India: A Regulator’s Perspective’ featuring Dr. V.R. Narasimhan, Chief Regulator, National Stock Exchange of India, today.

Setting the context of the talk by explaining the emergence of corporate governance in business and the growing role of regulatory bodies like SEBI, NSE and others, Prof. M. Jayadev, faculty in the Finance and Accounting area at IIM Bangalore, said: “In spite of all these developments, norms are violated. Investors’ money is not the issue but investing the money in good securities or good companies is the issue. Availability of resources are plenty but channelization of the resources is not taking place.

”Taking a cue from Prof. Jayadev’s address, Dr. V.R. Narasimhan shared examples of how companies violated governance norms and listed various type of actions taken by regulatory bodies and highlighted the objective of corporate governance. He explained, in detail, the procedures and practices that need to be followed by the corporate world to ensure transparency and maximize value of the stakeholders, which, he remarked, .....
